For more than 20 years, the Global Fund has fought AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria - mobilizing billions, saving millions, and strengthening health systems worldwide. Every three years, its Replenishment Summit brings world leaders and partners together to renew their commitment to this mission.
The Eighth Replenishment, held in Johannesburg alongside the G20, raised $11.34 billion. Five Heads of State and Government, joined by representatives from more than 30 countries, convened with multilateral partners, philanthropies, businesses, civil society and community networks. Their gathering sent a clear and powerful message: the fight against AIDS, TB and malaria is not over, and global resolve to advance progress remains strong.
But when leaders come together to shape the future of global health, the details matter. Every light, every staircase, every pulse of the stage contributes to the story. For this summit, Catapult transformed diplomacy into design, creating a space that radiated unity, urgency and hope.

Hosting heads of state, ministers, philanthropists and civil society leaders in one of the most security-sensitive environments imaginable required more than logistics. Our task was to merge precision and protection with creative storytelling that honored every participant. The environment had to feel diplomatic yet human, controlled yet vibrant, a place where emotion and gravitas could coexist.
At the center stood a mainstage inspired by the human heartbeat. Pulsing lights traced a rhythm across the backdrop, a visual metaphor for lives saved and progress made. Each beat was a reminder: millions depend on this collaboration.
The stage was designed for fluidity. A world leader could speak one moment and a youth advocate the next, with every transition feeling intentional and seamless. Each movement reinforced the narrative of collective effort.
Catapult approached the space like choreography. Heads of state, advocates and choirs were not separate elements but parts of a unified visual story. Camera angles, seating arrangements and performances made collaboration visible. When the Global Fund Choir joined world leaders on stage, it became more than a performance - it became a declaration that progress is, by definition, collective.
Even movement carried meaning. Delegates ascended escalators wrapped with “The Rise of the Global Fund,” turning a simple transition into a symbolic upward journey. From arrival to applause, every step reflected momentum - upward, forward, together.
Through Catapult’s design, the Global Fund’s mission took physical form, reminding the world that progress in global health is driven not only by pledges and policies, but by a shared conviction that every life holds value. In a setting where every gesture mattered, design became a powerful form of diplomacy helping the world move forward, together.
